How do offsite balustrades save costs by 30%?

Posted on 24th November 2021

Offsite balustrades are commonly installed to precast concrete stairs before they reach site. Using cast in fixing sockets in the stair mould, the pre-assembled balustrades are installed to the stairs before they are craned into the stairwell.

Traditional balustrade systems are installed towards the end of a project and therefore temporary edge protection is required until the balustrades are installed.

Offsite balustrades provide an instant safe stair from the moment they are craned into the stairwell, allowing the site team to move safely and freely.

Offsite balustrades save costs by…

  • eliminating the need for temporary edge protection
    – removing costs of adjusting and removing scaffolding
    – removing the cost of hiring temporary edge protection
  • saving time
    – no loss of productivity from access challenges
    – reduces trades on busy stairwells
  • minimising risk
    – no need for welding or hot works on site
    – keeps escape routes open at all times

Offsite balustrades aren’t the right fit for every project but are ideal for escape stairs. If you’re in need of front of house balustrade system, then offsite modular balustrades aren’t the right fit and you should contact view our architectural balustrades here.
