⌄What are the recommended baluster spacing when designing a stair?
To meet a standard loading of 0.74kN/m with standard 50 Series balusters, a maximum space between balusters should be 1000mm where possible.
⌄Is it possible to have side fix balustrades fixed into a Hollowcore concrete slab?
It is possible, however, it involves bespoke designed plates and sleeves that can increase the price considerably. The plates would be top fix but incorporate a cantilever bracket to receive a side fix post, as fixings can only be achieved through the top face slab.
⌄What are the recommendations for handrail terminations?
Recommended termination points for the top & bottom of handrails are a minimum of 300mm from stair nosing or ramped access to end point of handrail. Ensure handrails do not terminate into an access route and finish the end of handrail in such a way that reduces risk of clothing being caught.
