Stafford Skills & Innovation Centre

Contractor: Bowmer and Kirkland
Architects: Ellis Williams Architects

It was a pleasure to be involved in the construction of the £28m Stafford Skills & Innovation Centre, yet another project in the education sector. Built as an addition to NSCG‘s Stafford college campus, the building is equipped with leading edge equipment and state-of-the-art skills, construction, engineering and motor vehicle facilities, along with a 4 court sports hall, gym, and 300-seat auditorium.

Deltas role in the project consisted of supplying and fitting:

  • Just under 104m of our Orbis OS210 Glass infill Balustrade System and 180m of Stainless Steel Handrail to the internal stairs.
  • 110m of powder-coated Mono M311 Top Fix Glass infill Balustrade Systems to the atrium and terraces.
  • 316-grade Stainless Steel handrail to the outdoor terrace.
A key consideration for the Stafford Skills & Innovation Centre project was the requirement of a flexible balustrade solution on the final flights of stairs 2 & 3. At the time of the balustrade install, the client had yet to confirm a method to obstruct unauthorised access to the roof, subsequently requesting a balustrade that suits a range of potential walk-way barriers. The delta team quickly produced an extensive array of potential re-designs, resulting in an all-embracing resolution.

Once again, our expert team exceeded expectations with the design and install on this project and the building is now ready to welcome students in September 2023.
