THE FIRST AND FINAL CHOICE FOR BALUSTRADES AT RUGBY SCHOOL

Posted on 15th May 2014

Founded in 1567, Rugby School is one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools and is credited with being the home of the game of Rugby.

In contrast to its historic main buildings, the school’s new Modern Languages Centre is a contemporary, BREEAM ‘Excellent’ building boasting 11 classrooms and two language labs. Designed by HLN Architects and constructed by ISG, the building’s interior features curved walkways and two staircases which were specified with Delta Balustrades’ Duo range.

Both the client and the architect insisted that the finished installation should meet the high Delta Balustrades quality standards detailed in the specification so a proposed change was rejected. Delta Balustrades worked to a challenging timescale to meet project deadlines, using digital surveying to fast track the design process and ensure accurate fixing locations. 50 Series Sigma stainless steel handrails were used, along with HiBuild coated Duo balustrades for the walkways. The open, spacious feeling of the heavily glazed interior was then maintained with the use of 10mm clear glass infill panels with Banjo glass fixings.
